Somerset,PA : One hurt in accident at Shaffer Crossroads on may, monday 15th 2017

Firefighters sweep debris off the road following a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon at Garrett Shortcut Road and East Mud Pike in Brothersvalley Township. The accident happened around 5 p.m. State police Trooper Cameron Ferguson said the accident occurred when an SUV driven by Larry Oakes, 65, Somerset, stopped at a stop sign on East Mud Pike before driving into the path of a Jeep being driven south on the Garrett Shortcut by Debra Hoover, 59, Meyersdale. The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. The severity of her injuries was unclear Monday evening. Oakes refused medical transport, Ferguson said. The officer said Oakes will be cited. The Berlin fire department and Berlin and Somerset ambulance services assisted police at the scene.
