Two people were taken to the hospital after a car crashed through the front doors of a Lowell convenience store, pinning a clerk against the counter.

The car came crashing through the glass doors of the 7-Eleven at about 4:40 p.m. Monday.

Police said the clerk and a customer were taken to Lowell General Hospital with minor injuries.

The 62-year-old driver refused medical treatment. No names were released.

Police Capt. Thomas Kennedy says the driver "became disoriented in some capacity and hit the accelerator instead of the brake."

Andrew Locey, who was in the store at the time to buy a Kit Kat and a Pepsi, tells The Sun (http://bit.ly/1GoClRB ) that he helped the clerk, who said she was fine. He said he was amazed the injuries weren't more serious.
