Saint Paul, MN : 1 killed in crash on 190th Avenue about a mile north of Holdingford on Thursday, 27th August, 2020

A man was killed Thursday night in a collision near Holdingford.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred just before 7:30 p.m. on 190th Avenue about a mile north of Holdingford.

The sheriff's office learned that the 21-year-old driver of a Chevy pickup was traveling north on 190th Avenue when the driver attempted to pass another northbound vehicle.

As the pickup was passing the vehicle, it collided with a southbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Russell Heitzman, of Avon, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
