Geneva,NY : Man crashes car during pursuit on Sunday, 14th August, 2016
Ontario County sheriff’s deputies have charged a Webster man after he allegedly led them on a chase that resulted in a crash.
Deputies said they clocked Ian R. Mercurio, 19, of Longview Drive, going 112 mph at one point in the pursuit. Police said when they attempted to stop Mercurio, he tried to pass a vehicle, but over-corrected, causing his vehicle to go into a ditch and hit a driveway end. That sent the vehicle airborne, and it overturned several times, said deputies, before coming to rest upright.
Finger Lakes Ambulance took Mercurio to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment. He was later taken into custody and charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer, reckless driving, failure to comply to a lawful order, speeding (charges for two different MPH zones), failure to keep right, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, improper plates, operating without insurance and inadequate muffler.
Mercurio was issued appearance tickets to town court.
