A Palmetto man died in a motorcycle crash on Sunday.

The 31-year-old was driving his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on the Howard Frankland Bridge near the center span hump, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Driving ahead of the motorcycle was Joshua Perry Warner, a 21-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, whose Dodge 2500 pickup was pulling a utility trailer loaded with three ATVs.

At 2:54 a.m., the motorcycle, which the FHP reports was traveling at a high rate of speed, overtook and collided with the trailer.

After that impact, a 2016 Suzuki motorcycle driven by David Matute-Sorto, a 21-year-old resident of Bradenton, collided with debris from the initial crash.
