Utica, MS : 24-year-old Tranell Epps struck and killed by a Blue Bell Ice Cream truck on Hwy 18 in Utica on Tuesday morning, February 24, 2015

Mississippi Highway Patrol investigating a fatal accident that happened on Tuesday morning.

Trooper Eric Henry says that a two car accident happened at around 7:16 am.

He says 24-year-old Tranell Epps of Utica was driving his car on Hwy 18 across the White Oak Creek Bridge in Utica when he lost control of the car after hitting a patch of ice.

Epps crossed over into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Blue Bell Ice Cream truck.

When first responders arrived, they had to use the jaws of life to get him out. Epps died at the scene.

The driver of the ice cream truck was not injured.
