SNOHOMISH, WA : 3 injured in crash that shut down US-2 east of Snohomish on Wednesday, 30th September, 2020

A crash shut down both directions on U.S. 2 east of Snohomish Wednesday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A woman driving a Subaru attempted to make an illegal U-turn around 10:20 a.m., over a double yellow line, causing a van to crash into the vehicle on the major highway near Three Lakes Road, trooper Heather Axtman said.

Two people were trapped in the van after the crash and had to be extricated, Axtman said. They were conscious, breathing and talking, and were transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Subaru was more seriously injured, but was expected to survive, Axtman said. She likely will be cited for the crash, though felony charges were not expected.

The roadway was reported to be cleared and reopened around noon. Because the van was owned by the county, crews were taking extra time to move what was inside to another vehicle.
