Ipswich, MA : 65-year-old Ipswich man seriously injured after crashing electric scooter into stopped car on Monday, 29th July 2019

A 65-year-old man was seriously injured after authorities said he crashed an electric scooter into a car that was stopped in traffic in Ipswich Monday night.

The Ipswich Police Department said the man, who has not been identified, was operating a three-wheeled scooter around 5 p.m. when he came down a hill on North Main Street and hit a Honda Accord that was sitting in traffic on South Main Street.The man was brought to a local hospital by ambulance where he was picked up by a medical helicopter and flown to Tufts Medical Center.

Police said his condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and was cooperative with police. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities said the driver of the scooter was not wearing a helmet or protective gear when the crash happened.
