Mount Olive, MS : 15-year-old Savanah Powell dead in Covington Co. wreck on Wednesday morning, August 24, 2016

A Covington County teenager was killed Wednesday morning when the pick-up truck she was riding in was hit by an 18-wheeler in Mount Olive.

The Covington County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 15-year-old Savanah Powell.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, she was a passenger in a Chevy truck that was struck by the 18-wheeler at the intersection of Highway 49 and Pearce Road.

The 17-year-old driver of the truck was injured.
