GOSHEN, IN : Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on May, Tuesday, 23rd 2017

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash southwest of Goshen early Tuesday.

According to a report from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday on County Road 17 at County Road 40.

Deputies said a 1999 Hyundai was traveling south on County Road 17 and was attempting to turn east onto County Road 40. The Hyundai failed to yield at the intersection and turned in front of a 2002 Dodge that was traveling north on County Road 17.

The driver of the Hyundai, Amy Vargas, 33, of Goshen, was taken by medical helicopter to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A rear seat passenger in her vehicle, Olivia Evans, 3, was also transported to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge, Guadalupe Perez, 39, of Elkhart, was taken to Goshen Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said both drivers were cited. Vargas was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Perez was cited for operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license.
