Perth,NY : Charges upgraded in Perth Amboy crash that killed Ocean Township man on September, Wednesday 6th 2017

A 45-year-old Ocean Township was killed after the car he was driving was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer Wednesday on Route 440, and the truck driver has been charged with death by auto.

Jason Appio, 45, was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. at Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy Division, where he was taken following a crash at 3:36 p.m., according to a news release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Aleksander Isserovich, 38, of Brooklyn, New York, was initially charged with driving under the influence and was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy Division for his injuries, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Joseph R. Fuentes.
