Tampa, FL : Four-year-old dead after falling from vehicle on Sunday night, July 20, 2014

A 4-year-old Tampa boy is dead after falling from the back passenger side of a vehicle.

Tampa police say Marterrance Albury was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where he died early Monday.

Detectives say a witness called 911 Sunday night after seeing the child fall from the vehicle in front of the apartment complex where he lived. They're trying to determine whether he fell or was pushed.

A short time after the incident, police say the victim's 17-year-old brother walked up to an officer and said he couldn't find his brother. The child's mother arrived home around 4 a.m. and told police she had gone out with a friend and left the boy with his brother. She became hysterical and was taken to a hospital.

The investigation continues.
