Omaha, NE : Pedestrian killed in Kennedy Freeway crash on Wednesday, June 15, 2016

A 61-year-old Otoe County woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday when she was walking on the Kennedy Freeway.

Patricia A. Hall appeared to have been walking in the middle of the right southbound lane, according to the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, which didn’t know why she walking on the highway.

Sometime before 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sarpy County 911 operators received a call about a woman walking in the freeway. As a sheriff’s deputy was being dispatched, operators received a call from a driver who said he had just hit a pedestrian with his vehicle. The accident occurred just north of Cornhusker Road.
Hall was dead when deputies arrived, officials said.

The driver, a 64-year-old man in a Hyundai Santa Fe, was on his way home from work, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The South Metro Crash Response Team, which includes deputies from the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Papillion, La Vista and Bellevue Police Departments, investigated the death.

Southbound U.S. Highway 75 between Chandler Road and Cornhusker Road was shut down for about two and a half hours.
