Columbus,OH : Man critical after 4-vehicle crash Friday on Route 113 on October, Friday 13th 2017
An Amherst man was critically injured in a four-vehicle crash about 6:15 p.m. Friday at state Route 113 and Baumhart Road.
According to the Elyria Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, David L. Papenbrock, 72, was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson westbound on Route 113 approaching Baumhart Road when Ashley R. Fuller, 33, also of Amherst, who was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion eastbound on Route 113, failed to yield the right of way to Papenbrock while turning left onto Baumhart.
Papenbrock then struck the right rear quarter panel of Fuller’s car, causing him to lose control. Papenbrock then crossed the center line and side-swiped a 2015 GMC Yukon driven by Travis Roe, 37, of Avon. Papenbrock then rolled his motorcycle on the right side before striking a 2016 Ford Econoline van driven by Benjamin Burnside, 26, of Lakewood.
Papenbrock was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Lt. Carlos Smith said. He was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
The three passengers in Fuller’s vehicle, all younger than 11, were restrained and wearing their seat belts. No one in Fuller’s car was injured.
The four passengers in Roe’s vehicle, including a front passenger and three children younger than 6, were restrained and wearing their seat belts. No on in Roe’s car was injured.
The driver of the van also was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
