STOCKTON, CA : Infant dies in I-5 crash on northbound I-5 south of the Charter Way interchange on Sunday, 15th December, 2019

An infant riding in a car died Saturday night following a collision with a San Joaquin County sheriff’s patrol vehicle on Interstate 5 in southwest Stockton, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The two-vehicle collision occurred about 10:38 p.m. on northbound I-5 south of the Charter Way interchange.

The infant was in a Ford sedan being driven by a woman in the third lane from the left. The Ford was being followed by a marked sheriff’s Chevrolet driven by a patrol deputy when, “for unknown reasons that are currently under investigation,” the sheriff’s vehicle rear-ended the Ford, sending the Ford to the right off the freeway and down an embankment, according to the CHP.
