Gainesville, FL : Interlachen man dies in crash on April, Friday 7th 2017
A 47-year-old man died in a traffic crash early Friday on State Road 26.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, the Interlachen man was traveling east in a 2006 Ford F-250 when he drifted off the paved part of the road, onto the grassy shoulder.
The truck then struck a utility pole and rolled down the shoulder, over a wire fence.
The driver, whose name has not yet been released pending next-of-kin notification, died at the scene. The passenger in the vehicle, Loran Wilson, 31, of Keystone Heights, was taken by ambulance to UF Health Shands Hospital and suffered only minor injuries.
According to the release, Wilson was wearing a seatbelt, but the driver was not.
