The dog that survived the crash that killed two people Monday on Illinois Route 29 and Cedar Hills Drive is reportedly recovering well.

The crash involving a car and an Illinois Valley Central School District bus occurred about 3:30 p.m. The two people in the car, April Turner, 34, and Marc Lane, 58, both of Chillicothe, were killed. Several students on the bus were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, but officials said at the time their injuries were considered minor.

Hank, an approximately 5-month-old pit bull mix, was in the back seat of the car when it crashed.

Terri McCosh, the girlfriend of Lane's brother Curt, said Hank got out of the accident with only a scuffed nose and a small cut.
