Burchinal, IA : One person injured after a single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 35 Wednesday morning, April 13, 2016
Interstate 35 was blocked briefly Wednesday morning so a helicopter crew could aid a crash victim near Burchinal.
The crash happened about 6:35 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the exit at 210th Street.
A white Chevrolet cargo van pulling a flatbed trailer went off the road and rolled multiple times, according to a Clear Lake Fire Department statement.
Firefighters found one person lying on the side of the road. The person wasn’t able to say if he crawled from the wreckage or was thrown from the vehicle, the statement said.
The freeway was closed for about 15 minutes to allow a Mercy Air Med helicopter crew to land to pick up the victim.
He was flown to a local hospital.
The investigation is being handled by the Iowa State Patrol.
Troopers and Clear Lake firefighters were joined at the scene by Cerro Gordo sheriff’s deputies, Rockwell EMTs and firefighters from Swaledale and Mason City.
