A Cape Coral man was killed in a motorcycle crash in south Fort Myers early Friday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that 53-year-old Donald Powers was traveling east on College Parkway around 4:40 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, his motorcycle hit the curb and he went airborne. He was not wearing a helmet.

Powers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation of a fatal motorcycle crash has closed the right lane on eastbound College Parkway at South Pointe Boulevard in south Fort Myers.

According to WINK, the Florida Highway Patrol said the unidentified male motorcyclist left the road for an unknown reason. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

Motorists are advised to take Cypress Lake Drive as an alternate route.
