A man died after the car he was driving collided head-on with a pickup truck Thursday evening on Route 209, near the Tree Ventures entrance, in Middle Smithfield Township, Coroner Bob Allen said.
The man was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, where he was pronounced dead, Allen said.
Injured were the man’s wife and the pickup truck driver. One of the two injured was flown by helicopter to another hospital.
Route 209 traffic was still backed up as of 6 p.m. as state police did an investigative crash reconstruction. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until his next of kin have been notified.
