TIVERTON, RI : Wrecked car pulled from junkyard in Tiverton crash on Sunday, 9th September 2018

A wrecked car ended up in a junkyard following a one-car rollover on Bulgarmarsh Road.

One man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with injuries that were described as not life threatening.

Firefighters had to ease the man through the sunroof of his Acura sedan to free him.

The car was on its passenger side, its back end crashed against a row of junk cars stored at Tiverton Auto Parts, 541 Bulgarmarsh Road.

The driver told rescue personnel he did not know what happened, officials report.

Fresh tire tracks were clearly visible in the long grass at the side of the road. They ended at a rock, two feet high, in the brush. The tracks started again 20 feet away, where the fence surrounding the junkyard was in splinters.

The car was found, damaged from one end to the other, 30 feet further east.

The call was received at 10:30 a.m. Lt. Andrew Kettle, the commander at the scene, arrived first and called for more personnel.

The driver was conscious and alert but could not get out of the car, Kettle said.
