Burlington, VE : Snow causes crashes overnight and Monday morning on Monday, November 21st, 2016
Overnight snowfall in Vermont's first widespread storm of the season created slick driving conditions for people traveling late Sunday night and Monday morning, according to law enforcement authorities.
Vermont State Police from the Williston barracks say they responded to about 26 calls from 8:30 p.m. Sunday to 2 a.m. Monday from motorists largely in Chittenden and Lamoille counties.
Most of the calls before 2 a.m. were on Interstate 89 between Bolton and South Burlington. No injuries were reported.
In Essex, a section of Vermont 128 was closed for about 20 minutes starting at about 7:50 a.m. Monday following a two-car accident.
The driver of a car and a passenger in a minivan were brought to the hospital with unknown injuries. Essex Police Officer Stephen Dunning said the call came about a half hour after he started his shift at 7 a.m. and as of 8:30 a.m. was the only significant crash of which he was aware. He added that roads began improving slightly after 8 a.m.
