Victorville,CA : Driver, student suffer minor injuries from early morning school bus crash on November, Monday 6th 2017
School officials said only minor injuries were reported after a vehicle struck a school bus here early Monday morning.
The driver of the Victor Valley Union High School District bus complained of minor back pain after the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Mojave and Del Rey drives at 6:25 a.m. Monday.
According to VVUHSD spokesman Kris Reilly, the bus was carrying six special needs students to Victor Valley High School. It was struck by another vehicle as the bus was turning from Del Rey Drive onto Mojave Drive.
Reilly said initial reports from witnesses at the scene indicated the other motorist may have run a red light before hitting the bus. That vehicle sustained significant damage, but its driver was uninjured.
The bus sustained damages to the front bumper, tire and front axle. The driver of the bus complained of minor back pain and received a medical examination, Reilly said.
One student on the bus complained of minor shoulder pain, but Reilly said the student’s parent declined to have the student transported for medical aid.
The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
