Nashville, TN : One killed another was injured in a evening crash at Hickory Trace Drive On Monday, August 14th, 2016
A toddler was struck and killed by an SUV at a south Nashville apartment complex Monday evening.
Police said it happened around 5:30 p.m. at the Stonebrook Apartments on Hickory Trace Drive.
Investigators have identified the 21-month-old as Siang Hoih. Her mother, 28-year-old Thang Cing, was also hit. Both the mother and daughter are refugees from Burma and lived at the apartment complex.
Police said the driver, 61-year-old Taria Fakhree, was backing out of a parking spot when he hit the mother and child.
He told police he say Cing lying in the parking lot "frantically waving at him."
Fakhree took the mother and child to Southern Hills Medical Center. Siang was pronounced dead when she arrived at the hospital.
Her mother had minor injuries and has since been treated and released.
Police said Fakhree did not show any signs of impairment and was cooperative with officers.
No charges have been filed against Fakhree at this time.
