A head-on collision on Thursday at the intersection of River Street and the Eighth Street Bridge left five people injured, according to Township fire personnel.
Five people were taken from the scene by ambulance,” said a township fireman.
Several emergency vehicles were on site, including Jenkins Township fire department vehicles and the West Wyoming ambulance.
The crash closed one lane of River Street heading toward Pittston, for about 30 minutes.
On a night when many were making their way out to celebrate New Year’s Eve, traffic backed up quickly and several people exited their vehicles to inquire as to what had happened.
