Tecumseh, NE : One person dead after a two vehicle accident in a southeast Nebraska on Sunday evening, April 17, 2016

A two vehicle accident a half mile north of the Highway 50 and 136 intersection near Tecumseh left one person dead late Sunday evening.

According to Deputy County Attorney Benjamin Beethe, preliminary reports are that a 1996 Chevrolet Corsica driven by Gary Barton, 77, of Haddam, Kansas was going northbound and crossed the median. The vehicle then collided with a southbound 2006 Ford F150 driven by Clark Gartner of Tecumseh.

Barton was killed on impact. He was not wearing his seat belt. Gartner was wearing his in the accident.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are currently investigating the accident.
