KOEHLER TOWNSHIP, MI : No injuries in M-68 accident on Friday, April 7th 2017
A 55-year-old Afton woman was treated and released at the scene after she left the roadway on Friday, April 7 and struck a utility pole.
Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont said his department was dispatched to the accident on Friday at 4:53 p.m. on M-68 near Afton Road.
The investigation revealed the woman was driving a 2012 Chevy pickup traveling east on M-68 when she had a medical emergency which caused her to travel off the roadway into the ditch and then strike a utility pole on the north side of M-68.
“She was going east and she had actually gone off onto the north side of 68, through the ditch there and hit the light pole,” said Tuscarora Township Fire Chief Dave Carpenter. “No injuries. They didn’t transport her. The truck is probably totaled by the looks of things.”
M-68 was temporarily closed down while utility lines were removed from the roadway.
Traffic was rerouted down Afton Road and Montgomery Road for around half an hour.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
The sheriff’s department was assisted on the scene by the Tuscarora Township Fire Department, Cheboygan Life Support Services Ambulance and Department of Natural Resources Fire Division.
