Wilmington, DE : 70-year-old woman critically injured a crash in Iron Hill on Wednesday night, March 22, 2017

A 70-year-old woman was critically injured Wednesday night during a crash in Iron Hill, according to New Castle County paramedics.

Paramedics were called to the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Otts Chapel Road about 10 p.m. for a report of a crash with a person trapped inside a vehicle, said Paramedic First Class Yvonne T. Russell.

Upon arrival, paramedics found the patient confined in her vehicle, Russell said. Responders from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company successfully removed the woman from the vehicle.

The patient, who suffered injuries to her arms and her abdomen, was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition, Russell said.

Delaware State Police was investigating the crash.
