HOLYOKE, MA : 3 injured in head-on collision on Route 202 in Holyoke on Monday, 11th February 2019

Three people were injured in a head-on collision on Route 202 Monday morning that sent one of the vehicles off the road and over a guardrail.

Holyoke firefighters were dispatched to the scene to help free people from the wreckage using Jaws of Life hydraulic gear, said Capt. Kevin Cavagnac of the Holyoke Fire Department.

Three injured parties were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. He did not have information on their conditions.

The accident is under investigation by Holyoke police.

Both lanes of Route 202 were closed at 11 a.m. Police estimated the road will not reopen to traffic for at least a few hours.

Route 202 is the major road connecting Westfield to Holyoke.
