INTERLACHEN, FL : 36-year-old man died after crashing his car into a tree oo Wednesday night July 9th 2014

A 36-year-old man died after crashing his car into a tree in Interlachen Wednesday night.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, around 9:10 p.m. Mark Mahoney was driving a 2003 Kia 4D north on County Road 315, when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off into the grassy shoulder.

The car continued into the woods where it struck a number of small trees and came to a final stop after hitting a large tree, according to FHP.

Mahoney was wearing his seatbelt and should harness but died as a result of the crash.

There were no passengers in the car and no other vehicles were involved, according to FHP.

Mahoney was from Hawthorne, Florida.
