MONROE, MI : Woman killed after being hit by semi in Frenchtown Township on Monday, 29th January 2024

A Newport woman walking along N. Monroe St. in the early morning hours of January 29 was killed after being hit by two vehicles.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Rory L. Tobin, 33, was struck by a semi and then another vehicle just north of Santure Road in Frenchtown Township at 2:22 a.m. Monday morning.

Authorities said Tobin was walking within the travel lane while wearing dark clothing.

Both vehicles stopped afterward and alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash.
