Woman accused of stabbing after wreck
Harrison Police Chief Paul Woodruff said 35-year-old Cara L. Wagner was arrested for DWI and second degree battery after a hit-and-run wreck Friday night.
A report shows a caller reported a two-vehicle, non-injury wreck at Hester Drive and Quail about 7:10 p.m. Friday and one party was trying to leave the scene.
Woodruff said the other driver, 63-year-old Everett Lee Burr of Harrison, followed the runaway driver, identified later as Wagner, as she allegedly drove through yards and driveways trying to get away from Burr.
When Wagner stopped, Burr approached the vehicle and Wagner allegedly stabbed him “multiple times” in the right arm with what was likely a screwdriver, Woodruff said.
Police arrived on scene and Wagner fled on foot. Woodruff said Ptl. John Morgan and the K9 officer, Jerry, were on scene and Morgan let Jerry out of the back seat of the car with the dog giving chase.
Before Jerry could catch up to Wagner, she surrendered and Morgan issued the order for the dog to stop the chase, which he did, Woodruff said.
Wagner faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, endangering the welfare of a minor (a 10-year-old girl in her vehicle), DWI with accident, carrying a weapon, second-degree battery, fleeing on foot and resisting arrest, Woodruff said.
