St. Augustine , FL :21 - Years old Jambalaya Hughes in Critical Condition after veering off Interstate 95 and hitting tree on Saturday ,May 2 2015

The Florida Highway Patrol says a woman is in critical condition after veering off Interstate 95 and hitting a tree.

The accident happened just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 95 southbound just south of County Road 210 in St. Johns County.

Troopers say Jalaycia Hughes, 21 was in the outside lane when, for reasons unknown, she traveled onto the paved shoulder. According to the FHP report, she then over-steered in an attempt to regain control.

FHP says her car traveled off the road and slid down a grass embankment before hitting the tree.

Hughes was flown to UF Health Jacksonville.
