Marietta, GA : Cobb detective injured in crash with 18-wheeler on Tuesday, January 17th 2017

A Cobb County Police detective was seriously injured when the car he was driving was hit by an 18-wheeler Tuesday in south Fulton County.

According to Fulton County police, the wreck occurred when the driver of the truck failed to yield on Fulton Industrial Boulevard and crashed into the detective’s vehicle.

The Cobb County police vehicle the detective was driving caught fire after the crash.

The detective was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. The truck driver was not injured.

Police are not releasing the detective’s name or information about the injuries he sustained.

“Respectfully, at this time, we are not going to release information regarding the nature of injuries to the detective,” said Cobb Police spokesperson Alicia Chilton. “At this time, we are not releasing his name out of respect for him and his family.”

The crash is being investigated by the Fulton County Police Department.
