Helena, MT : One person dead, another injured in a two-vehicle crash northeast of Helena on Wednesday, December 3, 2014
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David Gleich confirmed that one person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash east of the intersection at Canyon Ferry Road and Wylie Drive on Wednesday.
At approximately 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, crews responded to reports of a head-on collision in the area.
Initial reports indicated that a woman was pinned behind the steering wheel of her vehicle and was unresponsive. MHP later confirmed that the woman died at the scene. The woman's name has not yet been released.
Reports indicate that the woman was traveling west on Canyon Ferry Road when the van she was driving drifted across the center lane.
The van collided with an eastbound pickup truck, which swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the van.
MHP confirmed that the woman was not wearing a seatbelt.
No information is currently available on the extent or severity of injuries of the other driver's injuries.
Initial reports did not indicate whether speed, alcohol, or adverse road conditions contributed to the crash.
