Ames, IA : Iowa State student dies in motorcycle crash on Highway 65 near Altoona Saturday morning, September 10, 2016

An Iowa State student died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 65 near Altoona Saturday morning, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Vyacheslav "Steve" Zinchenko, 20, struck the guard rail and was thrown from his motorcycle Saturday just before 7:30 a.m., according to the Iowa State Patrol crash report. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Polk County Medical Examiner.

Zinchenko is listed in the Iowa State directory as a senior in bioinformatics and computational biology, and is originally from Osceola, Iowa.

The accident remains under investigation.
