Three truck drivers were hospitalized following two separate wrecks involving semis in Finney County Tuesday.
The first crash was at 11:40 a.m. on U.S. 50, some 6.7 miles east of U.S. 83.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Freightliner truck and trailer driven by Mitchell A. Childress, 49, of Kansas City, Missouri, was eastbound on U.S. 50 when at mile marker 77, it swerved off the west side of the road and entered the median.
The truck traveled about 100 feet through the median, then overturned, coming to rest facing eastbound.
Childress, who was disabled, was transported by ambulance to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
The second wreck occurred 30 minutes later, also on U.S. 50.
The patrol reported a 2016 International truck and trailer driven by Eric Wilhelm Sandberg, 57, of Spanish Fort, Alabama, had stopped at a railroad crossing on the highway about 2.5 miles west of Garden City and had just started driving again when hit from behind by another semi that failed to see the truck had stopped.
Michael James Martinez, 47, of Hugoton, drove the second truck, a 2008 International also pulling a trailer.
