Flagler County, FL : No injuries, Flagler deputy involved in crash Sunday on August 10, 2014
Charges are pending against a Flagler County sheriff’s deputy who was involved in a crash Sunday while “trying to keep pace with a potential violator,” according to the Florida Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported.
Deputy Joseph Barnett, 40, was traveling west in the right-hand lane Moody Boulevard about 1:45 p.m. and attempting to keep pace with a motorcycle in the left lane, a report states.
“Traffic in front of Barnett slowed due to a car turning right into Palm Pointe (Apartments),” FHP Lt. Justin Asbury wrote in the report.
Barnett was unable to stop in time and he rear-ended a Ford Flex driven by Keith Lagocki, 47, of Palm Coast, who had three family members in the car.
Alcohol was not a factor and everyone was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
“Barnett was not in pursuit and his emergency lights were not activated prior to the crash,” Asbury reported.
