Pawhuska, OK : Cristina E. Mendez, 29, died after a motorcycle wreck in Osage County on Sunday, April 24, 2016

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said a single motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman Sunday in Osage County is still under investigation.

According to OHP reports, Cristina E. Mendez of Enid died Sunday.

Troopers say the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Sunday on County Road 1200, about 7/10 of a mile south of Mud Creek Road, 1 mile south and 2 miles east of Prue city limits in Osage County.

At that time, a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Mendez was southbound on CR 1200, and was “traveling too fast for a downhill curve to the left.” Mendez then “failed to negotiate the curve, departed the roadway right and impacted the guardrail.”

She became separated from the vehicle and came to rest behind the guardrail. The motorcycle “continued southbound, re-entered the roadway, departed the roadway left, continued upright along the guardrail, re-entered the roadway, crossed back over the centerline and departed the roadway right.”

Mendez was then pronounced dead at the scene from head, leg and trunk internal injuries.

Troopers list Mendez’ condition at the time of the accident and the cause of the collision as “investigation pending.”
