One person was killed after two wrecks backed up traffic on I-85 Friday morning.Lanes closed because of construction also clogged the interstate, adding to the backup. The first wreck was confirmed to be a fatality at mile marker 60, which is Highway 101. A wreck on Highway 290 also backed up traffic on the interstate at exit 63. Construction cones set up past Highway 290 closed two of the three lanes, further adding to the backup. Drivers reported stop-and-go traffic, with periods of delay until 10 a.m. One caller to the WYFF newsroom said he tracked the backup at 10 miles at one point, though South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers could not confirm it. Spartanburg County Coroner Charles Clevenger confirmed he was called to the wreck at mile marker 60. The wreck was reported at 3:22 a.m., according to the Highway Patrol website. According to Highway Patrol Cpl. Bill Rhyne, one lane was closed at that location while crews worked to clean up the wreck.
