Sunol, CA : Two dead, three injured after 3-car collision on Highway 84 in Sunol on Sunday, January 4, 2015

Two people were killed and three others injured in a multi-vehicle collision on state Highway 84 inSunol, California Highway Patrol officials said.

CHP officers responded to a report of a collision at 6:17 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway, said Officer Damian Cistaro.

Officials originally said two vehicles collided but have increased that to at least three vehicles.

Cistaro said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second person died at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.

Two people with major injuries were also transported to Eden Medical Center, Cistaro said, and one person with moderate injuries was taken to Valley Memorial Hospital in Livermore.

First responders transported two juveniles to a hospital to be checked for injuries, according to the CHP.

At least seven people were involved in the crash that closed all lanes of the highway until 10:01 p.m. Sunday night.
