Price, UT : Minor injuries after driver crashes into car wash on Thursday October 27th 2016
A Price woman was lucky to escape with minor injuries when the vehicle she was driving crashed into the Super Sudsy Car Wash at 890 East 100 North in Price Thursday afternoon.
Price Police Sgt. Stephen Regruto identified the driver as 38-year old Elisa Chavez Mascarenas. She was taken to the hospital with cuts and abrasions, but nothing life-threatening. Chavez said Mascarenas was not using a seat belt, but the vehicles air bags deployed which likely prevented more serious injuries.
Sgt. Regruto said the accident happened at about 3:00 pm when the red Ford F-150 pickup truck Chavez Mascarenas was driving eastbound on 100 North veered to the right and sheared off a power pole. Regruto said the pickup was traveling at an estimated speed of 50-60 m.p.h. The vehicle bounced off a concrete wall and ended up in the east bay of the car wash. The vehicle was considered a total loss and the car wash sustained structural damage.
In addition to emergency personnel, crews from Price City and Rocky Mountain Power rushed to the scene to immediately address the downed power line, and then worked quickly to replace the power pole. That required power to a portion of East Price to be interrupted for about two hours. Traffic lights on Main Street at Airport Road and 300 South became four-way stops and traffic on 100 North was detoured around the scene.
Sgt. Regruto said the investigation was ongoing but emergency responders suspected possible impairment and Chavez Mascarenas will likely face charges of DUI, Driving on a Suspended License, and Improper Lane Change.
