Allen Parish, LA : One man died and woman injured in a single-vehicle crash near Oakdale on Wednesday morning, July 29, 2015

One man is dead, and a woman is injured following a single-vehicle crash near Oakdale on Wednesday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop D, a 2005 Ford Expedition was heading west on River Dam Road near its intersection with La. 1152 when, for unknown reasons, it left the road and traveled 140 feet before striking a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Drake of Oakdale was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The only other occupant of the vehicle, identified as 36-year-old Tabitha Johnson of Oakdale, was not wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Investigators believe impairment by Drake could have been a factor in the crash. A routine toxicology sample was collected and will be submitted for analysis.

The investigation remains ongoing.
