Paducah, KY :Pedestrian killed in semi crash on I-24 on Thursday, July 9th 2015
A man was killed Thursday after being hit by a semi truck on Interstate 24 near Paducah, KY.Jonathan D. Grice told police he was driving a tractor-trailer west when the collision occurred just as he passed over U.S. 45.Grice and several witnesses said Brian K. Beyer, 41, was sitting on the roadside guardrail with a bicycle propped up beside him.They said as the tractor-trailer approached, Beyer jumped up and ran into the roadway in front of the truck.Beyer was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the McCracken County Coroner’s office.Westbound lanes of Interstate 24 near MM 7 were shut down and traffic diverted for about an hour on Thursday as officials investigated and cleaned up the scene.Officials opened both lanes back up at approximately 1 p.m.Police are doing a crash reconstruction investigation, and are investigating the death as a suicide.
