Antrim ,NH : Two people killed and two others injured after Vehicle Crash along Route 9 on Saturday afternoon. ,August 15th 2015
A crash in Antrim has shut down a portion of Route 9 for several hours Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened about 1 p.m. The road is still closed near Route 31.
Two people were flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and two people were taken to Concord Hospital. The conditions of the victims were not released.
New Hampshire State Police said a total of five vehicles were involved. Two were badly damaged, and it took rescuers more than 45 minutes to pull a victim from his car.
Investigators analyzed the crash site and searched a nearby body of water, where police found one of the crash victims.
Police said all the victims were accounted for but a water search was performed as a precaution.
A U-Haul van that was involved in the crash also fit the description of a vehicle that was reported for erratic driving, speeding and illegal passing about 15 minutes before the crash, police said.
"We know that the U-Haul van was actually a BOLO (a be on the lookout for) that started in Keene for erratic driving,” Sgt. Shawn Skahan said. "It’s not unusual to have a BOLO but unfortunately this one turned serious and turned into a collision. If we determine he was the cause of the collision, then yes, charges will be forthcoming as a result of his actions here at the collision."
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call state police.
