HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL : Fort Meade motorcyclist killed in Hillsborough crash on Saturday, 1st December 2018
A 27-year-old Fort Meade man died Saturday night as the result of a motorcycle crash in Hillsborough County.
Ronald C. Sampson was traveling westbound at high speed in the inside lane of S.R. 60 in the Hopewell area just west of Polk County when a cargo van turned into the motorcycle’s path, Florida Highway Patrol reported. The driver of the cargo van, Timothy Bowser of Lakeland, was turning left from southbound Horton Road onto eastbound S.R. 60, the report said.
The two vehicles collided and the motorcycle, a Yamaha YZF-R6 Supersport, caught fire after impact, FHP said.
The motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, FHP reported. Alcohol was not considered a factor in the collision.
