Four people are dead in two separate accidents along the same stretch of highway in Terrebonne Parish.
The first accident happened around 8 p.m. Sunday, when a Raceland man was killed after his vehicle crashed into a tree in Gibson along LA 182. Louisiana State Police say the driver, Tommy Lebouef, 34, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead on scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office. Investigators say alcohol use is suspected to be a factor. Less than an hour later, three people were killed in a head-on crash in Terrebonne parish on LA 182 near LA 660 between Raceland and Houma. In that crash police say, Juan Martinez-Silva, 56, of Lockport was driving west on LA 182 when for unknown reasons crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Cadillac coming in the opposite direction. Both Martinez-Silva and the driver of the Cadillac, Belinda Leonard, 48, of Raceland were pronounced dead on scene.John Steve, 34, also of Raceland, who was a passenger in the Cadillac, died on the way to the hospital. Another passenger in that car, Natasha Rogers, 28, of Gray was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital with severe injuries."I knew almost immediately when I arrived the potential of injuries was likely catastrophic," said Chief Russell Di Salvo, Jr. With the Coteau Volunteer Fire Department. "Unfortunately, that's what it wound up being. And two of them weren't wearing seat belts, which likely lead to their deaths."State police say what caused the crash, and whether Martinez-Silva was under the influence remain under investigation.
