Chico, CA : Elk Creek woman dies in a single-car accident on Highway 162 west of Willows on Monday, June 20, 2016

A 35-year-old woman died during a single-car accident on Highway 162 west of Willows about 2 a.m. Monday, according to California Highway Patrol.

Tina Marie Biggs of Elk Creek was driving westbound in her 1993 Honda Civic, west of County Road 302, when the car drifted to the right during a sweeping turn.

Biggs swerved left across the roadway and off a steep embankment, the Honda turning over before landing. She was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.

Passenger Thomas Gene Seely, 45, survived with moderate injuries.

The CHP said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol caused the accident.
