Osseo , WI : University of Wisconsin Stout administrator Killed in traffic accident in I-94 On Wednesday night, November 19th 2014
Kay Schnur, the director of enterprise information systems at the University of Wisconsin Stout, died in a traffic accident on I-94 Wednesday night.
The Wisconsin State Patrol said the 56-year-old Schnur, of Merrillan, was going east on I-94 west of Osseo when her car hit a deer about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, investigators told WEAU-TV.
Her car stopped in the right lane of traffic. A semitrailer truck that was following her car moved to the left to avoid a collision, but a second semi couldn't get out of the way quickly enough and rear-ended the car.
Schnur's daughter, 25-year-old Anna Herrick of Merrillan, was a passenger in the car. She went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She's a student at UW-Stout.
UW-Stout Chancellor Bob Meyer issued a statement Thursday night, saying thoughts and prayers are going out to Schnur's family and friends.
"Kay worked at UW-Stout for about 22 years and was a dedicated, hardworking and innovative administrator, as well as a great friend and colleague. This is a devastating loss for the campus and for everyone who knew her."
The driver of the semi truck was not hurt.
