Oneonta, NY : A Sidney man is dead following a dump truck crash on Friday, October, 13th 2017
A Sidney man is dead following a dump truck crash in Deposit on Friday, according to a media release from State Police.
At 9:30 a.m. Friday state police in Deposit were sent to a quarry access road off state Route 8. The release said that the troopers found an overturned 1990 Mack dump truck in the road. After an investigation of the scene, troopers concluded that 66-year-old William B. Barse, had been ejected from the truck after driving off the road and hitting trees. He was hauling stone from the quarry, the release stated.
According to the release, Barse was "deceased at the scene."
The truck is registered to SLLC Inc., a transportation and shipping company based in Deposit.
The investigation is ongoing. Barse is undergoing an autopsy at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton at the request of Medical Examiner Richard Ucci of Delaware County.
New York State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene, as well.
